Going to the boards for advice on tires

I'm currently running GY Eagle F1 GS-D3 (performance summer), but they seem to be phasing those out, since I can't seem to find any in 225/45ZR17 for my Aero. I absolutely love them, though! So I extensively researched online, and decided Continental ExtremeContact DWS would be a good option for me($626 at America's Tire). BUT- they are experiencing nation-wide backorders, and no one can get them in, or even know when they'll get them in.
Because I'm running summer tires year-round, we drive our Aura when we go up to the snow instead. All-season wouldn't be bad, though. I would like to aim for a good balance between sporty and comfy/quiet. Is there any advantage to choosing summer instead of all-season? There are a lot of really great summer tires, but they're also hella expensive. Oh, and speaking of which, I won't consider anything less than a 200 treadwear rating.
So what do you guys think would make a good tire choice for me? What are the benefits of directional vs. symmetrical vs. asymmetrical? Should I just wait it out for the Continentals?? Or is there a better tire out there for me??
Thanks
-Chris
