Cranks fine but sometimes no start

This 9-5 has been so fabulously reliable that I've completely lost my chops (don't know if any of you know me, but I used to have a little 9000 web site). I'm also getting too damn old to work on cars! I've had this '02 Aero for nearly 3 years and 30K+ miles and it's been just wonderful. Replaced the stupid plastic heater valve and the born-to-fail info panel, and that's it - it's been shamelessly reliable. But lately it hasn't wanted to start on occasion when cold - if it doesn't light right up it won't light up at all. After an hour or so of rest it has always started, although grudgingly. And on two occasions it has quit dead while idling, only to restart immediately when cranked. All I knew to do this evening when it wouldn't start at work was check fuses and swap relays around - no help. (Plus the standard percussive maintenance - "maybe whacking a few things will help"). But after an hour's rest it lit right up and drove home just fine. OK, so I've read some and know to watch the tach needle, listen for pump noise and buy some starter fluid (where's the most practical place to inject a shot of it?). That will probably tell me what I need to know, but any other suggestions? Also, can someone please refresh my memory on who sells rebuilt info display panels? (Sorry, guys, don't know the acronyms - I'm brewing beer in my spare time now instead of spending it trying to figure out how to keep the Saab running ... forgive me, but damn, I do like this GM Saab! Except for the sorry-ass paint.)
