I live in Quebec, where winter is pretty cold with a lot of snow.
To my point of view, FWD is much safer to drive than RWD, both in rain and snow. RWD can be more fun, but sometime, oversteering is no fun at all...
AWD will be better in acceleration in snow, but steering and braking will be the same. Some people feel too confident with AWD, so they drive too fast and only get farther out of the road.
This may be a long debate. I think tires quality is the determinant factor. We see a lot of Subaru and Audi (AWD) in here and these people only believe in AWD. Big question is about your budget and driving conditions.
