wow!! wow... woah. Ok, first of all, I think it's ridiculous to not use the parking brake with a manual transmission car, ESPECIALLY when parking on a hill. That being said, if you are having difficulty shifting, I think the first place I would look would be the engine and transmission mounts (a well-covered subject on TSN - use the search feature). Taliaferro offers a poly bushing for the trans mount, too, and it's easier to install than it is to change your oil! The other trans and engine mounts are more difficult, but nonetheless very doable.
That being said, the next step I'd start looking at would be the clutch... if it is not fully disengaging (or you aren't pressing the pedal in all the way) it can be destroying your synchros, and a new transmission could be your next step.
But before you go out and get a new transmission installed, have you considered the quality of your shop that checked the linkages?? Are they experienced with Saabs, or transmissions? The average local tune-up shop is dangerously unqualified to be working on our Saabs...
Good luck,
Chris
