). Yes, auto zone will do it for free. Have them read and bring the codes back to us. Sometimes they're Saab-specific and AutoZone's book won't tell you the correct problem corresponding to the code.
). MP3's. Yes. In my 2001 9-5 I installed a wired FM modulator. It's the same concept as those stupid FM transmitters but it's HARD WIRED in line with your FM antenna. When you flip the switch it cuts into the antenna and streams your iPod, MP3 player, whatever you want with perfect FM radio quality, which is pretty darn good sounding, IMO. I did a writeup I think a while back if you search the 9-5 board for "Wired scosche FM modulator" you should find some helpful information. Crutchfield has them for sale.
). Yep. Once you get the battery replaced just hit the lock button a few times and it'll start working again, no troubles. I THINK the 2003 has the updated key blade (is the blade pattern a squiggle up the middle, or off to the side?) which is light-years easier to open up than the 2001-2002 key.
). If they're original to car and look sort of yellow they'll need replacement. Longevity depends on if your Daytime Running Lights (DRL's) enabled. I'd say 60k miles is a safe bet.
). The 2003 Arc uses a GM V6 which has a timing BELT. It needs to be serviced on the DOT every 60k miles and the tensioners and pulleys should really be done too. It's about a $750 job. If you can't prove they were done at the last 60k mile interval... DO THEM!! $750 now is a lot better than a new engine later.
Otherwise, it sounds like you found a great car. Enjoy it!
