No O-ring necessary Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 28 Jul 2010 03:48:23 In Reply to: oil change 9-5, jw, Tue, 27 Jul 2010 20:28:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
No gasket is needed for an oil change on the 1999 thru 2009 9-5's. The engine uses a standard external cannister filter (I use Purolator Pl20195) and there is a copper washer on the drain plug. I flip the copper washer over and get two uses from it, others have never changed the copper washer.
The 9-3SS, and the future 9-5's with the 2.0T engine, use an internal cartridge filter that requires a large O-ring to seal the filter cap. Some brands include the O-ring in the box with the filter (Purolator does) while other brands require you to buy it seperately.
