Hello, John...
He also removed carpet/jute around the floor for the vehicle. Still I have no idea why merely leaving the car at the dealer for 11 days would cause a change in the way the shift stick worked, like I described. Almost like something got into something when he removed the carpet/jute.
I have a manual transmission -- what would be the "upgrades" to a 2000 9-5 manual transmission?
I thought of linkage issues, too, but the engr/attorney in me is supsicious, since in addition to knowing that the leather stick cover came way off entirely, and the broken wood/plastic under the leather stick's bottom [where the rectangularish piece holds the leather to the wood/plastic], there was the windshield star cracked massively ["Oh...that was like that when it came in" [despite the adjuster's photos]] . . .
I couldn't help wonder if the mechanic had driven the car around [to consider the smoke on startup] and managed to bottom it out somewhere... impaling something up and into the linkages.
Almost comical...
Except after the dealer's service manage said he would pay for the windshield, and I sent the invoice to him, he hasn't contacted me...
Well it's still comical.
