Yes, the engine is designed to get a little wet while you drive it. But it's not meant to have water blasted at 100psi all over it. Particularly the electrical stuff.
I used Simple Green, an OXO Dish scrubber, a light garden hose to rinse, and an electric leaf blower to dry it and it came out as if it had just rolled off Assembly Line A in Trollhattan. The seals in the fuse box and other electrical "hot spots" will keep everything safe without needed to put extra coverings on.
