I was driving to the office this evening and an old white Cabrio pulls out behind me driving like a total hooner. I thought to myself, "jeez this girl's totally gonna hit me when I have to turn into the office..." About a half mile later... can you guess??
I was stopped with my left blinker on waiting for oncoming traffic to clear, look in the rear-view, see her barreling toward me at like 60!! I LEAN on it, FLOORING THE GAS, she finally locks up her brakes, and BOOM. If I hadn't hit the gas our cars would be looking very sorry right now. I figure the impact was about 15-20mph between her slowing and my accelerating. Just enough for me to feel my head hit the headrest. She left some very respectable skid-marks in the road.
Damage isn't too bad; you have to be very nit-picky (which is my middle name) to notice much. I have two perfect indents in the bumper from her license plate bolts, a scuff, the park assist strip is a little funky, and the bumper doesn't sit flush with the rear fender on the passenger side. I can't see it but I'm sure the foam behind the bumper is spent. I plan to bring it to Mitchell Auto Body, which is right in with their Saab dealership. My cousin had $7k worth of deer damage repaired on her Jetta there and it looked amazing.
I am 100% fine, was just a little shaken at the scene. Oh well, it added some excitement to my Friday night.
