Heres one for you guys. (2000 9-5 aero, transmission replaced last year with a new one with 65,000mi) I'm in a crowded parking lot and I start my car up to hear this loud horrendus gear grinding noise. Everyone is looking at my poor car and me thinking how they will probably never buy a Saab now. So in a panic I shut the car off immediatly, open the hood and crawl around expecting to see some sort of metal shavings and catastrophic damage. I didn't see anything. So I start it again and it grinds really loud again. This time I revved the engine and the grinding noise got louder depending on engine speed. So I put it in reverse and backed it out (still grinding) and then put it in first and pulled away and the grinding stopped but I heard this metal ringing noise which in time also diminished. So I've yet to start my car today. What do you think this could be?
