It depends on what is in there. Usually it is coffee or soda. The best thing is to remove it and wash it in hot soapy water, then let it dry before lubing it. WD-40 has a thousand uses, but it doesn't work on coffee and soada. It just lubes the sludge, but the sludge remains.
