'00 vs '06 revving

My 2000 9-5 Aero (1118K mi) revs more eagerly than my 2006 9-5 Aero (25K mi). The only change on the '00 was the larger intake tube. The prior owner of my '06 had the 2 1/2 in catback sport exhaust option installed and the ECU reprogrammed by Abott racing. The '06 is the definitely the faster car when I get the revs up and punch it, but up to the low 2000 rpms the '00 feels quicker and seems to pull better. I noticed a big difference when I installed the intake tube on the '00. The '06 feels like the '00 before the new tube, like it is not breathing as well as it could. Not sure what's happening here, I thought I might get some thoughts from the BB.
