On my last saab when the air filter box was destroyed, along with the mounting holes. Anyways, They are awesome, They are made from coton, and you buy a cleaning kit that comes with something to break up the oil and dirt and you wash it out, let it dry, and then replace. the cold intake I put in was like 80 bucks, a cleaning kit is like 12 dollars or so, The last time I bought it. I cleaned mine every 2nd oil change because it got so dirty being right before that front wheel. I was able to use the cleaning kit 5 times. Could have used it more if I was more careful. so 80+12=92/6 = 15 bucks a "change" and if I had bought another cleaning kit. and used it just another 5 times? then it would have been 104/11= 9.45. the best part was is my car, my parents tahoe, and my brother's jeep all had K&N's so we just used the cleaning kit to clean the filters. The ONLY problem I see is you have to let it dry out after washing it, before oiling it. in az durring the summer that's 15 mins, durring colder months not so much. but If I take it out, clean it, set it out in the sun, changed my oil, by the time I was done, It was dry and ready to be oiled. I got a deal recently at the dealer for my oils, + filters for a hard to beat price, so I took it, but once this filter is ready to be replace, I will tell you i'm putting in a washable one. I Don't know if I would put in a cold air intake again, I loved it, but my wife/at the time girlfriend hated the sound of the spooling turbo and blow off, and the sport exhaust. and since this is the baby carrier, I'm going to keep it tamer than my last car.
