why not get a truck lift kit put on it so the ground clearance will be 5 feet then your able to put slammin 22inch rims with a real thick tire with low air pressure in them so it will feel like a water bed. the truck lift kits come with gas shocks and with a low psi. of gas the shock itself will be spongy allowing the car to roll and fluff over the bumps kinda like riding on a cloud leaving that ever so soft feeling. But I suppose lifting the car door 5 feet off the ground will make it kind of difficult to get in and out, there is always the rope latter option that hot air balloon riders use, I suppose seeing the modification to the suspension is going to be done adding a rope latter shouldn't be to much extra.
the kids might have a hard time entering and exiting the car in any expedient sort of time, it would take the average 3 year old 15min. to clime a 5 foot rope latter, I suppose in this case you could engineer a remote for the passenger window so once its pressed the window will roll down and you could be able to just toss the kid through the open window into the back seat and then hope in yourself and head to the super market.
I wouldn't think this modification to the car would cost more than a grand or so.
