The $1000 owner credit is from SAAB, not the buyer/leaser. Acquisition fees are standard practice for all lease deals (although a couple hundred more than what I paid 9 years ago); that's the price for the put option. I managed to renegotiate the purchase price at least end three years later, shaving about $2000 off the residual price that had been specified in the original lease contract. Doc and Reg fees are standard for any car purchase/lease, although I negotiated that down to $150 when I bought the Highlander from a different branch of the dealership back in 2004 with all-cash (check) payment; Toyota did not offer attractive lease deals back then. BTW I have no relation with that particular Saab dealer. I bought the 9-5 from a different Saab dealer back in 2001, and I service the Highlander at a different Toyota dealership. I do often hit HerbCambers website whenever I consider buying a new car (of any make, as they have zillions), as a competitive price reference point. So please, do not take it as I recommend their Saab dealership, but just a general idea about what the new 9-5's real cost of acquisition.
