thanks for all the help. certainly answered my questions. I have to put in the Mackay hose because the line that comes out of the head near the temp sensor sprung a leak. Basically split open from old age. I shortened it, but took 15 minutes of wiggling and some minor burns on my hand to get on. That hose has a molded end that flares up to a larger size.
When I looked up the prices for these hoses, I knew it was time for simplificaton and time for that Euro version with no bypass valve. I bought the Mackay, + upper and lower radiator hose,+ reservoir hose+ water pump hose for $75.00
ONE replacement bypass hose is $88 and the other is $28 and I still have the bypass valve in there to replace [again] when it fails.
So I think the Mackay Euro hose is a great idea.
