Won't start after flat battery

I have a 2005 9-5 Aero which has been standing out in the cold for a few weeks.
I knew the battery would be pretty flat, so I charged it before attempting to start the car.
If I remember correctly, I had to open the door with the key, not the remote.
When I switched on, the clock was wrong, presumably confirming that the battery had been flat.
But the engine will not start.
It turns over, everything appears healthy, but no start.
My local (non-Saab) workshop confirms that there's fuel and ignition (even tried another ignition module), and suggests that the problem is that the immobilizer has lost its memory when the battery went down, and needs reprogramming by a Saab dealer (taking it there on a low loader, as it's too far to tow an automatic).
Does that sound plausible, or is there a simpler solution?
