95 Aero, year 2000. Driving along in Drive (auto transmission), I feel a clunk (smallish clunk) in the transmission, then the TCS light comes on, the transmission light comes on and then the engine light.
The codes are P1701 (transmission) and P1923 (engine). Car goes into limp mode, but when restarting it is back to normal. Engine and transmission light stay on for about 1.5 days and then turns off. Car drives fine as normal.
Happens every 3-4 days, but now is happening very regularly. Car sometimes does not want to start (there is crank but not starting). Wait 5 minutes and car starts.
My mechanic also does not know. The P1701 seems to be the main code although there are sometimes others as well which are: P1925, P1908, P1460.
There does not seem to be a lot of information on the P1701, my mechanic said that this code is an ABS fault error, but on other cars (not Saab).
We suspect electrical faults, or a sensor error.
The Neutral Safety Switch was replaced about 3 months ago because I also had the "No crank" issue. Replacing the NSS fixed that.
Any advice would be very appreciated.
