Labor rates vary nation-wide.... I am lucky in that my local Indy shop charges around $100/hour. My local Dealership charges more, a labor rate in line with yours. I know Marcin is located in Virginia (as are two of my kids) and rates there may be much higher than what I pay.
My bottom line to Marcin was to get a second quote. The 8 hours of labor multiplied by the $125/hour rate seemed high to me. You confirmed that the hours/job quoted to Marcin was approximately double what he should be expecting to be charged.
I didn't interpret your response an ungentlemanly, no apology necessary.
