I don't think Saab's viability makes much difference here... buying *any* new car means taking a huge depreciation hit. In terms of repairs, it depends on how long you keep cars, but this car is full of GM parts that are probably used on other cars, so I'm certain you'd be able to keep it running if you wanted to, even if Saab folds...
If you buy it, others will see it on the road + be encouraged to do the same... I think sales will also pick up when the 9-4X, 9-5 wagon, and Griffin 9-3's hit the showrooms (btw did anyone else notice that a 9-5X just got approved? I assume, similar idea to 9-3X, raised wagon + bodykit that would compete head on with XC70)... In the interim, you'll be driving a very unique car... imho, if you like the car, and it fits your needs + budget, buy it... but this is coming from a guy who only buys cars used (because I would rather fix potential problems, mitigated by appropriate up-front research, than take a certain depreciation hit)...
