The Saab 95 rear suspension is fairly complex, and it has 3 arms that control it.
You need the rear ride height right, and the alignment right in the rear and front.
I bet it is not a tire issue. Tire cupping is the symptom of alignment problems.
I had a cupping problem on the rear of my 95 for years. I finally solved it completely. I found that the rear springs sack, or fatigue and the ride height lowers. This cause additional camber on the front and additional toe-in. The Toe causes the rear tires to cup. If you rotate and put them on the front. The front just keep wearing the cup on the front tires gets worse and you start cupping the rear.
Get the ride height right. Then have the suspension aligned by a good alignment shop with a modern 4 wheel alignment setup.
What is the mileage? Also a 95 needs shocks and struts by 80,000 or 90,000. miles.
I have Konis all around and love them. Other than struts I did nothing to the front, and did outer lateral arm bushings in the rear and forward trailing arm bushing.
My cupping is GONE......and the 95 really really handles well.....best ever.
