9-5 battery reversed by body shop... Posted by John Kos [Email] (#2194) [Profile/Gallery] (more from John Kos) on Sat, 2 Apr 2011 18:17:11 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey all- Unfortunately I need some advice on what damage has been done to my beloved European Delivery 2005 9-5 Aero wagon. Today I picked up the car from a large,(supposedly)reputable, body shop. The tech drove the car out from the service area with no issues, and shut the car off. The car was rear-ended and needed a new rear hatch, bumper, and back-up sensors. The impact did not break the taillights or rear glass. I said I'd like to check the rear proximity sensor function before leaving. I tried to start the car and it cranked slowly, wouldn't fire, and then did the dead battery solenoid clicking. Funny. The car cranked fine and started fine previously, and has a new-ish CPS. The tech got the jumper cart and proceeded to hook it up to the battery ---IN REVERSE POLARITY--- before I could yell for him to stop!!!!
There was a blue spark at the terminal, and the car went dead (the key was in the ignition in the on position). He quickly removed the clamps as he relized his error; I removed the key, then he hooked the clamps correctly. I waited 5 or 10 seconds, then turned the key to the ON position. After 3 or 4 seconds all gauges , dash lights, and the SID came on. After 3 or 4 more seconds of "checking" on the SID it said, "check ok". BUT- now the ABS warning light is on, the ESP light is on (pushing the button doesn't turn it off) and the car CLUNKS severely from park into drive. AND the car revs but BARELY drives forward when in drive. Something's VERY wrong. Sorry for the long post. I'm soooo bummed right now. Any help would be great.
