Thanks all. H11-55 work with a minor mod... Posted by TonyJ [Email] (#407) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TonyJ) on Mon, 4 Apr 2011 16:39:43 In Reply to: Re: I can't say for sure..., Aero~1957, Mon, 4 Apr 2011 03:41:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
1. Remove the silicone rubber red gasket so you won't damage it.
2. Don't touch the glass
3. Using the old H-8 as a guide, dreml the stainless steel tab opposite the connector so it matches the H-8; only about 1/16" needs to come off the right (cw) edge.
4. Blow off the debris and replace the gasket.
That's it; the connector matches perfectly and the modified H-11 will plug right in. BTW, replacement is so much easier than on a 9000; no tools needed and you don't even have to jack it up! If you try it, let us know how it works out.
H-11 are less than $12 a pair at WM. I modified the second one as a spare for when the right one goes. As I mentioned, both the Haynes and owners manuals show a H1-55W, so I'm not too concerned about the extra heat. In fact, the owners manual even shows a picture of a H-1 55W, so I bought one as spare but was disappointed when it came to be needed. I can still use it in the headlites of my Acura RSX.
