H8 Front Fog lamp substitute? Posted by TonyJ [Email] (#407) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TonyJ) on Sat, 2 Apr 2011 18:45:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2004 9-5 Aero wagon. The owners and Haines manuals say the bulb is a 55W H1, but since one has just expired, I discovered they they are actually 35W H8 and VERY hard to find (eeuro has them for under $10). The 67W H9 is very similar, but has an extra key on the connector, but it looks easy to break off. One of the three metal tabs that hold it in looks narrower. I would try it, but am concerned about melting the $200+ light assembly.
Last October, Larry Jewett posted:
"I went to buy a new H8-35 fog light for my 07 9-5 today and had to search 4 auto parts stores before I could find a bulb. I studied the bulbs a little and determined that an H11 is the same fit, but its a 55watt instead of a 35watt. H11s are much easier to find at the parts stores. Anyone out there know whether the H11-55 watt can be used without the higher heat output damaging the lamp?" No one ever answered, so let's try again.
