I posted earlier about this and got some good advice. I'm hoping there might be some additional thoughts out there. I had the chocolate milk mess in my car (1999 V6) and per most suggestions here, I was assuming it was the oil cooler. The car has some mysteries as the p.o. had started to remove parts to do a headgasket replacement. There wasn't much coolant in the engine to begin with but there is the possibility that some had been drained off. Who knows. When I drained the oil it was pull of water/coolant. Before fully dismantling the engine I re-installed what the p.o. had removed and filled the overflow with water. The engine started up and was very smooth. Lots of white, puffy smoke from the tailpipe.
Anyway, the heads have been removed and tested. They are fine. They both had the same 5/1000 of an inch warp in the middle of the heads. The gaskets looked fine. I've seen many blown headgaskets in my day and these didn't look blown. The oil cooler was pressure tested and the shop was not able to get it to leak. This leaves me in a bit of a quandry. Is there anything else that could go bad allowing coolant and oil to mix and also send the billowing white out the tailpipe?
Thanks guys.
Dan
