I was dealing with the same behavior that pointed to a bad fuel pump or crankshaft position sensor, though both had been replaced in the last couple years. The only thing that I knew that needed replacement was the coolant temperature sensor. I also discovered a couple of vacuum hoses which needed replacement.
In the end, I had to have all three replaced. The fuel pump insert was put in with a kink in one of the hoses, so the pump was working too hard and slowly burned itself up. (It was replaced first with the coolant temperature sensor and the car seemed to be working until we experienced more stalling.) So the CPS was changed and finally it worked again without issue.
I got a non-OEM CPS, and as it was mentioned by another poster, the non-OEMs don't seem to last as long. I got a genuine Saab CPS this time from eeuroparts.
So I guess I'm saying--I think you need to replace the CPS and be wary of the fuel pump and coolant temp sensor.
By the way, having all three done by my Saab mechanic was about $600. Admittedly he only charges $45 per hour.
p.s. A petite blonde? Hmm....
