You are absolutely correct saying that I am at the mercy of the dealer.
What I asked before was how much should I expect to pay/be charged for the job.
I do find it tacky to charge me additional time for the filter replacement when they have taken everything apart.
They also told me that the motor that actuates the blend door/flap was burnt. I don't believe that, but I don't have the knowledge to rightfully challenge that. Even if I did, the only other option I have is to pay for the "diagnostic fee" and then take my car elsewhere.
I still feel ripped off, and I wish I had other options. The other place(s) I was considering also had really bad reviews online, which is why I ended up going to the dealer. They are the only one in the area, so the forces of evil have no competition.
To top that, I started the car and for the first time a cloud of blue smoke came out of the exhaust. Am I right for thinking that THEY DID THAT!?
Right now contemplating going to a different brand with a better network around me, even thought that was not supposed to happen for a couple of years.
