Springs will help, but if there are other components that are a bit off (some say that there are bushings that can wear even a little bit that will throw off ride height) then the ride height will be off and then camber will be off. Some will take the time to replace the bushings, but it is an advanced DIY, presses, and a bit more cost. The spacers are a fairly easy low cost solution to the ride height problem.
So, purists that have a few bucks to spend might take the bushing approach and even then I have heard that even with new springs the ride heights are a bit low. Or you can replace components that you want, get the ride height and then make up for it with spacers.
