When putting in the new assembly, make sure that you have the orientation correct (clock position from the top) of the assembly. Relative purchased a used car that had a new assembly put in by an indy and complained about Fuel Indicator issues. Turns out they had it at the incorrect clock position about 5-10 minutes off. Loosened the ring, turned and tightened and problem was fixed....
