I wonder if a hammer would work to pound the drive deep enough, or maybe taping on some sandpaper somehow to widen it.
There is a trim piece (already removed the air vent hose to the far right dashboard vent) that prevents me from getting the driver in there with it level. However since I already removed the accessible screw, it wiggles quite a bit and I can get the driver further in there after bending the assembly downward at a small angle. It was quite firm to turn it so I thought I finally had it but it is likely just rubbing against the inner diameter of the hole. I think sandpaper would work on the plastic cover easier than it would on the hardened metal tool.
