Alignment, what can be adjusted?

I got an alignment, but they only adjusted front toe. What is adjustable without shims? I have to go back as the steering still isn't straight and the car drifts right. I’ve never understood how the steering wheel can be reasonably centered as there is some play in the steering box and no indication of where center is other than eyeballing it. The Hunter machine has simplified specs that don't seem to match the WIS exactly. The alignment guy is good, but he isn’t a Saab guy and has perhaps been doing this too long to deal with exacting European cars. Still, it should have failed his test drive and gone back on the rack.
