Starting in 2000, the difference between the 2.3t and 2.3T was in the engine programming, the the turbocharger ("T" gets a more potent Mitsubishi unit) along with the necessary changes in oil and water piping to the turbo, and the exhaust valves ("T" valves got a nickle alloy flashing for better heat resistance). For MY 1999 (in the USA and earlier abroad), there were also differences in the rods and bearings, maybe pistons as well.
Your 2.3T, assuming it is not an "Aero" spec, is detuned for 220 hp vs. 250 via software.
My 2002 Aero seems to run fine on any fuel having a pump octane of 87 or higher. If you find yourself in the mountains, DO NOT USE the 85 octane regular they sell there. The engine controls measure absolute manifold pressure, not relative (to atmospheric) pressure, giving the engine the same power at 10,000 ft. as at sea level. It also means that then engine can destroy itself burning 85 octane, even if the ambient air pressure is 20 inches of mercury.
