Hi, Tom -
I would recommend reading as many of the recent posts on this site as you can. There is a Scribd post on changing it out as well, which has some pictures that may help (google SAAB 9-5 water pump). My main piece of advice is that this is one job where you would rather be the 'tortoise' than the 'hare' - the main goal is to get it done with no 'backs'. This in the end will save you time.
I did mine this past Spring. I spent extra time removing corrosion & gunk from the front housing (that I re-used) to make certain the o-rings made a really good seal. Lubed o-rings with a little silicone grease mixed with a little antioxidant. The grease is not there to do the sealing, just to make sure the o-ring can reach it's proper spot when installed. The o-ring under compression does the sealing. So far I am happy - no leaks. Hepu pump from eEuro.
Best of luck on the job!
