Just made the same call....

I recently purchased a 2002 Aero, coming off a 1999 9-3 SE HOT lease. The Viggen is a great car, but at the end of the day I decided it was "more of the same" and I wanted a change.
Do I miss my 9-3? Absolutely! Quite simply, that car rocked--quick, practical, different, etc. Setting aside the fact that the 9-3 is a bit dated, I honestly believe that the 9-3 is more capable of inspiring passion than the 9-5. That being said, in almost every way (excluding cargo space, where it still comes close) the 9-5 Aero is an improvment on the 9-3. Even performance-wise, I think if you drive a Vig and an Aero you'll find the Aero corners tighter, and accelerates just as hard because its suspension does a better job of putting power to the road.
I'm not sure what to make of the NG9-3. I was expecting something a bit different. In my opinion, the cockpit looks confusing and the exterior has lost quite a bit of its uniqueness. I hate to say it (especially since I thrilled at the first picture that was leaked earlier), but I feel like the following:
Exterior: Blend of Audi, Pontiac, and Saab, in order of influence
Interior: Blend of BMW, Pontiac, and Saab, in order of influence
Needless to say, this is not necessarily a good thing.
Disagree on the point of a single guy not needing dual climate control. It is a key feature for ANY guy who wants appreciative women in his car.
