Thanks - that explains to me why my check engine light is intermittent, for the PO455 code, major evap leak.
Performance of the engine is fine, but seems better with lower octane gas (87) than high (94). More difficulty starting with the 94, as noted in the reply to Tony Starks, who is also here in Toronto.
My indie is at Aktive Motors, and there were no other codes when it was read. The light stayed on for a week or more, then went off.
Anyway, it is a lot of work to do that smoke test, and my next emissions test will only be next spring... should I bother, or wait? budget is tight now!
