Your description does sound most like warping rotors. I agree with kcsaaber that if warpage is bad enough you might have pad contact even when brakes are fully released. I suggest putting the front up on jack stands with the front wheels off and doing a very careful visual inspection of both rotors. If warping is the problem it may be only one rotor. Look for any evidence of uneven surface wear. pad deposits, or corrosion. I have had some rotor corrode in from the edge (not on our SAAB), and if they did that unevenly . . . You may need to remove calipers to see the insides of the rotors.
About the ball joint - your experience may differ, but when I've had one bad ball joint I've always replaced the other as well, and I can usually detect slop in the better one too. So I would look extra hard at that, even though it's not the main candidate to cause this. The mileage on your struts makes them suspect, not to cause the vibration, but to not damp it out as well, and this could make the warped rotor or other imbalance feel worse.
Good luck in tracing this down. Let us know what you find - we all learn through the experiences of others.
