I guess you run bald tires all winter? Can't take a chance of stopping too quickly and getting rear-ended. Or do you just keep a brick underneath the brake pedal?
"lift off the gas pedal to recover" is going to have much greater effect with tires maximizing grip, i.e., snow tires for winter conditions, "summer" tires for summer conditions.
AWD/XWD/4WD does have its place, but the vast majority of those who think they "have to have it" (primarily for winter service) would be better served by FWD and two sets of tires.
Ed (winter/summer'ng in NE Indiana for decades, haven't had a 4WD since 1981, and haven't really missed it (well, more than a couple of times))
