but never saw anyone comment on my suggestion.
When I replaced the turbo in my daughter's 1999 SE(4), I saw where they recommend replacing the oil supply tube at the same time, in case it was plugged. I believe that some places won't guarantee the turbo UNLESS the supply tube is replaced. My daughter's was nice and clean, but I still ran some carb cleaner through it and the banjo bolt, just to be sure.
Since then, whenever the sludge question comes up and someone states that you should drop the pan and inspect before buying a used 9-5, I've advocated that a MUCH, MUCH, MUCH simpler test would be to simply remove that banjo bolt and inspect. Granted, not as thorough a test, but if you know that the turbo is still original, then likely so is the banjo bolt condition.
