ok. 2004 arc. finally got a window of time to finish the front shocks + measure the resultant ride height. wheels front + back are different only very temporarily (not for driving, just due to circumstance)... I apologize for any confusion but I'll try to be clear...
Front: 23.25" (both sides the same). 16" steel wheels (17 3/8" dia) with 215/55/r16 tires.
Rear: 25.0" (both sides the same). 17" alloy wheels (18 5/8" dia) with 225/45/r17 tires.
From the jjj site, I should be at 24.0" front (16" wheel) and 24.4" back (17" wheel)... so the back is 0.6" high, and the front is 0.75" low.
What I did: Up front, just the shocks (Koni) - no other changes there. Nothing looked bad, but maybe I should do bushings. Can't do that myself. In the back, new shocks Koni, using the upper perch, no spacers, + new wagon springs. Old worn sedan springs were 1 cm shorter than new wagon springs. Wagon springs probably compress a bit less.
So the big question is: with the ride height in the rear so high, should I redo the rear to lower it? I have 10cm and 15cm spacers. The upper perch is about 1" higher than stock, so I could drop it to the lower perch and add a 10cm spacer to bring it exactly to spec, or 15cm spacer to be a hair over (to allow for some sag in the brand new wagon spring)...
does anyone ever do anything to raise the front?
I've gotta take the rear wheels off anyway to swap on the winter wheels (+ then all 4 corners will be 16" rims)... what would you do??
thanks!
James...
