I found another way, probably harder, but it worked. I just bought a '99 9-5 and it had the hazard switch pushed through the dash. The man from whom I bought the car had tried to glue the old switch and it pushed through the dash again. Anyway, he said he had accessed the fallen switch by removing the glove box, so I decided to try that also since removing the SID looked intimidating (can't remember why). When I got the glove box off, it looked like it was going to be difficult, since I couldn't quite fit my hand through the small opening from the glove box side into the area where the switch was fallen. (If you have a fairly young child to help you that might make it easier, with small hands they could probably reach through!). Anyway, the wiring attached to the switch is fairly long, so I was able to fish around with a screwdriver and pull the switch and wiring out on the glove box side and separate the old switch from the wiring connector. The next part looked tricky, i.e. how to get the wiring/connector up and through the hole. Thankfully I had some long and rather heavy duty twist tie material which was perfect for the job. I made it into a curve shape, pushed it through the hole from the top (i.e. where the hazard switch belongs) and slid it through until I was able to grab the other end at the glove box side. I then tied the twist tie to the wiring/connector and pulled it back up through the hole. It was a tight fit getting the wiring/connector through the hole since the wiring was doubled over (I had tied the twist tie to the wiring a little bit back from the connector) but it wasn't too bad. Once the wiring/connector was through the hole, I of course just connected the new switch to the wiring/connect, pushed the switch into the dash, and that was it.
