Anders-One more question-thermostat housing bolt Posted by markatl [Email] (#1833) [Profile/Gallery] (more from markatl) on Tue, 29 Nov 2011 08:25:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Anders,
I tried to remove the broken bolt this past weekend. There is one brace that holds three wired plugs above the housing that is connected to the valve cover(I removed that one bolt there) but it is also secured further down behind the engine as well- I did not even attempt that. Also there is a another brace(holding some hoses and what not) that is held on with the same screw as the housing bolt and I did not attempt to remove/move that either. Again too difficult-too much work. I did attempt drilling with an extractor bit through the hole of the brace as well as I could using a small electric drill. No go though. The drill was not strong enough. I could not fit a larger drill in there with all that stuff in the way.
I guess I am asking with all of this, what would be involved in removing the bolt effectively(was I going in the right direction above?) and what would your estimate be to extract the housing bolt? It is the top housing bolt and it is flush with the housing.
thanks,
Mark
