Press the AUTO and OFF buttons simultaneously on your ACC unit. You may see a code illuminated on the right side of the display window. There is a vacuum line with a red & white check-valve located behind the engine which feeds the solenoid for the Coolant By-Pass Valve.
This valve allows slightly increased air conditioning capacity during times when the system is operating at maximum output, but is a common source of coolant leaks. The previous owner may have disconnected the vacuum line to the solenid erroneously thinking this would prevent future coolant leaks.
These valves often have their bodies fracture so removing the vacuum feed is not a true preventive measure.
