Hey gang,
I am going to need to store my 9-5 in my friends driveway for 11 months. Can you tell me are some of the do's and dont's of long term storage:
What kind of fuel mix should I fill with? Stabilizer mix recomendations?
Fill just a gallon over empty and add new gas six months out? How often should I turn it on? should I disconnect the battery?
If anyone has done this before, much appreciated if you'd share a bit!
full disclosure:
I made the decision to take over my co-workers' 2010 Infiniti G37x lease. Now, before you roll your eyes you should know that I am cheaper than you and most likely cheaper than the cheapest person you know. :) So, despite that fact that I'll be making 11 payments on a relatively fast loaded two year old asian awd appliance made by a company with questionable taste, at best...and given that I'll part with this in 11 months...the seller is eating every single fee associated with the lease xfer and turn-in and the monthly nut itself is Toyota corolla territory. Oil and all service done at leasing dealer, driven by middle aged woman to and from work (5 miles each way). body damage quoted and netted out of lease...I have oodles of miles to drive (1.6K per month) likely limited only by the tread wear on the tires (have to be 4/32"nds at turn-in, 8/32nds currently)...net net, the cost of lease mimics the ownership costs of my Aero (assuming current as-is distressed disposition value)....and distressed it is: leaking a quart every 1,000 miles, my tires are bald, the AC is shot, fuel gauge shot, coolant is disappearing at an ever increasing pace, pulley/belt work required, hot air leak at firewall which makes the car unbearably hot, brakes/rotors gone, the air distribution flap is gone so while there is heat in the winter it's max only....just about the only thing that isn't checking out in this car is the beast of a (aero) turbo which hasn't puffed an ounce of smoke in 167K miles...
My intention is to fix the Aero up on my time (beer/weekend) when it warms up and drive it for a few months or more after I turn the lease in....right now I need a car I can drive w/o issues and one my wife will feel comfortable driving as well for a year or so until we are ready to make our next large automotive purchase.
My 9-5 is
