Well thanks for your response. I mentioned can hear the pump running, and if I disconnect the line at the pump, no gas comes out, but you suggest I check the fuse or the filter, which I mentioned I just replaced and is downstream from the pump itself. Maybe the fuse is bewitched and is allowing the pump to run but not pump gas? No I don't think so ;)
I replaced the pump only, not the entire assembly. The pump alone cost >$300 here in Vancouver, it was aftermarket Beck/Arnley boxed but Scan Tech. I put it in the assembly and have already taken it out once to check that it is connected OK.
The line that runs from the pump to the tank outlet is connected to a "t" fitting and that in turn is connected to a valve that sits at the bottom of the pump assembly. Is it possible that a failure in this valve will cause fuel to be pumped out of the system via this route, never leaving the tank?
