That's how my pipe seals in the oil cooler on top of the block acted. In cold weather the warning would show up and hold for a while after refilling. It was never a problem in the hot weather, but the level held just above the point of sensor activation. Not sure which engine you have, but if you have a V6, there are two aluminum pipes that enter the engine from the rear obscured by the intake pipes. If that is your engine, look for residue there first around the aluminum nuts. My engine (I think) is a B308E.
I looked at a lit of parts and there should be a coolant bypass valve on your car. Most leak later in maileage rather than sooner and when they do, it is a big leak. My level went down 1.5 inches whent he CBV failed. Just watch the oil for signs of coolant in the oil and trace pipes. It may take a manual 'feel' exam of each joint to find a slow leak.
