Bruce, what ever you do DO NOT FORCE THE LAST 1/4 inch. You are hung up on the two little alignment "tit's on the output shaft of the transmission pump. I did FORCE the last few turns and "P-O-P". On inspection, after taking the tranny out again, I found I had broken one of the nibs off. It is tiny, only 1/4 inch. It had shifted to align with the output shaft. This is where the resistance was coming from. There IS a discrepancy in the WIS. The Torque Converter MUST be at least 15 MM from face of Bell housing. My end of story. I killed a perfectly good transmission (except for a T/C seal). Now I have a junk yard replacement that is worn out. I get the P0730 failure. The vechicle motivates but is not really a long term user.
DOES any one know any MAGIC fluid I can put in the tranny to swell the friction plates just a little?
Best regards and don't smash a thumb. The back bell housing/motor bolt is a real bear to get to on a V-6. I took my tranny out from the bottom. PFB.
