Yeah...................I discussed this with my wife Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 9 Feb 2012 03:49:49 In Reply to: You're Wimping Out on 400,000????, JeffSm, Wed, 8 Feb 2012 20:45:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
As I told my wife, "the car has served me well, it is in great shapre for 12 years and 320K miles, why do I feel I should wait for a catastrophic failure before I replace it?"
I am having failure to start issues on increasing frequency and severity. It happened in early December for the second time and took 4 or 5 attempts before the engine would crank. It happened yesterday morning for the third time and took 10 to 12 attempts before engine would crank.
Plus, I won't have to install that lower idler pulley for nearly 100K miles on any of these cars! This job is coming due again in only 40K miles on my current car.
The CPS is only 6 months old so I am thinking it is the NSS. Both of the recent failures have happened with a hot engine and brief shut-down so temperature may be key. But it has not required a long cool down period before cranking. No new NSS available in the US that I have found so I have expanded my search to Europe. I will start carrying a paper clip in the glove box for a temporary jumper, and maybe install a permanent insulated copper jumper.
