I think that this is probably better covered in some old threads, but my experience was that when this became a nuisance I tried my own rebuild, only to have the poster of the DIY rebuild post the next week that it would not last - and he was correct. While pulling your fuse 14 will act as you indicate, I opted to just remove the alarm and deal with the "SERVICE ALARM" message on the SID until I went to my reliable independent SAAB shop (Andrews). They used a TECH II to disable the the siren (when this is done, the alarm still works, but it only honks the horn). On our 1999 9-5 I figure that I don't need the siren.
So if you have removed the Siren to be rebuilt, I don't think that you need to do anything else if you don't mind clearing the SID whenever you start the car. . . .
