Yes the painted plastic faux "brushed aluminum" dash inserts scratch rather easy. I always completely cover the dashes when doing interior work for the fear of scratches. Must be careful when removing the radio and SID and not allow them to dangle by the cables etc. Everyday cleaning off with a cotton rag and mild cleaner does not seem to scratch it though. In my opinion, it makes the interior look much more modern and "young" than the dark or light wood options. The plain black plastic is pretty simple though and pretty scratch free.
