On my 2000 the original hard plastic vacuum line had a single check valve that prevented oil being pulled from the valve cover. My booster was full of oil when it failed. I replaced the booster and the vacuum line assembly which was revised to include a check valve form the vac pump as well. That was 2 years and about 28,0000 mile ago. No issues.
